the camera lens does not seem to open, with a warning at the main screen that the lens cap is still attatched.
Hmmmm. this may be a tricky one.
I fear that with this problem, if you open up the lens assembly you may get tiny specks of dust inside there (which is a frequent problem with D-SLR cameras. Also it may have been packaged in a protective atmosphere to prevent condensation forming on the inside of your lenses (might even be a vacuum).
Anyway, we can’t realy help you without a bit more detail.
does the lens extend out from the camera, and is it two black shutters that close over the lense and open automatically when you switch the camera on?
If so, is any of the mechanism jammed or sticky? Try cleaning it out carefully.
Not much more I can think of unless it is an internal fault, in which case I suppose you should contact the manufacturer for advice/repair.
